These gutter screws are solid and provide a secure mounting of the gutter to the fascia roof joist. Then use a cordless drill to drive the screw into a new hole in the fascia board. Leave the old spikes in place a spike head looks better than a hole in the gutter. To replace gutter spikes with screws simply remove the old gutter spike and insert the screw through the existing hole in the front of the gutter.

If clips or brackets hold your gutters check for broken clips and loose or missing screws. The ferrul is a bit flimsy in comparison to the screw so is easy to crush if the screw is over torqued. Where gutter nails can come loose over time these will stay put. Rain gutter spikes or screws should be at least seven inches long and eight is even better.

Gutter nails or spikes used to hold rain gutters in place can work themselves loose with seasonal movement. Align the end of the threaded spike with the hole in the front of your gutter and push the end through by about 1 2 inch 1 3 cm. Just hook the bracket under the front lip of the gutter and then screw the other side of the bracket to the fascia. Snug the screw up to the gutter being careful not to over tighten it.
