The mandrel the thin part of the rivet will pop off once the rivet is fully installed. Before they are installed a pop rivet has a metal pin extending out through the head which looks like a finishing nail. Please note that the mandrel part of the rivet measures at 1 4 for the 42 and 7 16 for the 44.
